The Re-Design project was set to create a new environment for the college library, this mood-board shows the direction I wanted to go in for this project, focusing on brutalism through materials and shapes.
With my idea of creating private study areas I begun expressing these through perspective sketches of different study rooms, along with a fabric sample that can be utilised for the seating and pillows in the area.
This shows my final perspective sketch on how I wanted my study rooms to look. To create this drawing I used procreate along with guided lines to make an idealised sketch of the idea.
Part of the Re-Design project was to make an entire layout for the library and pick one key aspect to focus on - this page is my floor plan of my Re-Designed library.
This is my final mood board that highlights the materials and colours I suggest if the project was to be taken further.
The Make Do and Mend project was a brief about creating an installation for Wollaton Hall with either the theme of make do and mend or The New Era. My direction theme was the new era where I focused on futuristic aspects and went down the path of liquid metal. This page shows my initial ideas within the theme of metal.
My final outcome for this project was a table made from re-purposed materials, to fit in with the make do and mend side of the project, I used an old cutting board and an old table base attached together. I then used power tools to hack away at the wood and give the surface of liquid.
The New Perspectives project was about creating a new perspective for one of the six brands given to us, I chose the brand IKEA and begun my research into Sweden which led me to the theme of Neo Classical Architecture. From this I abstracted the detailing of columns and planned to make a lighting fixture with the shapes of columns.
This is my consolidation board for the New Perspectives project, it highlights the shapes and materials I intended on aiming my project towards.
Here I created design ideas based on one of my chosen themes to look at through Swedish architecture - Scandinavian architecture. I designed shelving based on the pointed roof shapes sen in Scandinavian buildings.
Another theme of research I looked into was modern architecture, the shapes are often used in brutalism which inspired to me to create a digital interpretation of a modern building using key shapes and colours.
When looking deeper into Neo Classical architecture and interiors I researched into the Berlin State Opera house, I was inspired by the intricate curves and lines within the ceiling so I created fabric samples that helped me limit the materials I wanted to use to create my light fixture.
Although I am still in the beginning stages of the AllSaints live project, I have decided to include my initial research for the brief as having the chance to work with a live client is important. This page displays my design ideas on seating/tables using re-purposed material.
I am researching into the clients of AllSaints so that i am able to get a better understanding of who I am designing for when I create my store installation. This page shows a moodboard of an expected client along with a card with some small information about her.
When looking into Manchester and researching into key events, one of the main topics I was interested in was the industrial revolution, I linked this back to the industrial aspects within current all saint's stores. I made design ideas based on machinery and cogs that are significant in the industrial revolution.
